Project : To move Heating and Hot Water control from standard Honeywell timer to CBUS.
This is the inside of the Honeywell timer I have - there are 2 "switches" - Hot Water and Central Heating. At the specified times, the timer is a relay for the live feeds.
Hot Water
Pin 8 - Live IN from pin2
Pin 6 - Live OUT
Central Heating
Pin 5 - Live IN from pin2 (same as pin8)
Pin 3 - Live OUT
When the Central Heating comes on, the Timer connects Pin5 to Pin3.
When the Hot Water comes on, the Timer connects Pin8 to Pin6.
To enable CBUS control, I want a system where I can revert back to standard Timer control if there are any issues, or when the boiler man comes to service!
Below is a wiring diagram I've used to do this with a 2Gang switch. The diagram shows the wiring for either the Hot Water or the Central Heating. You would repeat for both. I've used a 2 Gang 2 Way switch - the wiring is repeated for the CH and HW.
When the switch is in position 1 (switch up) control is passed to the Timer. When in position 2 (switch down), control is now with CBUS.
Note : CBUS here could be replaced with any relay that can switch 240v up to 2A, such as an X10 module, etc.
The RED line is the main LIVE feed. This is taken from Pin 1 on the Timer. Previously this fed Pins 5 and 8, but now we redirect this via the 2way switch.
