The original setup. Little Mission speakers up front, with my old DVD player, and 32" Sony TV, and of course my LaserDisc!

The Sony Service centre toasted this TV when I took it in for a geometry adjust. I took it back and forth 7 times. The offered me a replacement - I took a 50" LCD unit (BIG!) - but quite frankly, me and the missus got nauseous. Thankfully, the LCD matrix went after a few weeks - and I got a 36" unit. There seems to be a widescreen switching fault with the new Sony TV's, and I asked for a replacement. It took Sony 15 months to get me a replacement - which also has the same issue - as do many other Sony TV's I know now - not just my KV36FS70.

Time to progress - now with larger Mission 705's and a nice SoundStyle silver stand. Check out that serving hatch ! It wont be long before that's gone.

This is when it happened - I purchased a MouseRemote for my Creative DXR2 decoder card, using the support for remote controls in Remote Selector. And , hey, what's this X10 thing do ? Control devices over the existing mains ? Cool ! Where can I learn spend more ?

Bye Bye stands - here's comes the integrated system !. Here you can see the fireplace built and plastered and first layer of paint down. All self contained, all cabling goes underneath the floor and it has it's own power spur. Infrared is handled by a RF repeater, so once sealed (IR needs line of sight) the small unit on top of the TV is all you need. Only thing visible is the TV and speakers - that's it !

Lordy ! It's all hidden. This is my "Node 0" - the point where (most) of the kit is housed. There are a few other things, such as the LD11's (DIN Rail modules for the lounge lighting) are routed under the stairs in a high cupboard. The side doors are temporary until I get some free time - I have the outer mouldings ready (matching the front mirror)

From bottom upwards :
Toshiba 854 VCR (I defy you to tell if you are watching a tape or TV from 10 feet away)
Sky+ box - made the VCR redundant overnight.
Pioneer 717 DVD Player - chipped of course.
Dell DDAR (Rebadged Rio Receiver) - MP3 over Cat5
Sony DA50ES Receiver - the Home Cinema Hub.
Pioneer CLD925 LaserDisc - still good for my Star Wars Laserdiscs - the only way to enjoy with Dolby Digital
Sony 100 Disc CD Changer - with SLinkE support

Round the back. It's so much easier to get to the wiring when the kit is side on. A doddle. Notice I have put in a 110v strip to support some of the US voltage devices.

There is also A/V routing to the office upstairs so the PC can link in to the A/V receiver - essential for streaming MPGs from the DXR2 decoder card (with the radio MouseRemote)

A few RJ45 sockets are provided here, currently used for routing ISDN upstairs and the link for the DDAR.
